Framed in a champagne-toned wood frame with 6-ply mat and UV-filtering acrylic glazing. 

This is one of my favorite portraits I’ve painted—a quiet, observant Great Blue Heron rendered in moody violets, smoky greys, and warm earth tones. The name August felt fitting because there’s something dignified and almost regal about the way he holds himself. There’s softness in the feather transitions and crisp detail in the eye and beak that I really enjoyed balancing in the final layers.
