Did you know?

Cedar Waxwings have a unique and specialized diet. They are known for their preference for consuming berries and fruit, especially during the winter months when insects are scarce. Their digestive system is adapted to handle this fruit-heavy diet, allowing them to thrive on a variety of berries, including those from cedar trees, which inspired their name.

These birds are famous for their stunning displays of synchronized behavior during feeding frenzies. When a flock of Cedar Waxwings descends upon a berry-laden tree, they coordinate their movements with remarkable precision. This behavior not only helps them efficiently devour the available fruit but also enhances their social bonds within the flock.

Cedar Waxwings are instantly recognizable due to their distinctive appearance. They have a sleek, silky plumage, often with a crested head, and a black mask that runs from their eyes to their neck. Their secondary wing feathers feature bright red tips, creating a unique and eye-catching accent.
