Did you know?
The Plains Zebra is renowned for its iconic black and white striped coat. Each individual has a unique stripe pattern, much like a human's fingerprint, which allows researchers and conservationists to identify and track zebras in the wild easily.
Zebras are highly social animals and usually live in large herds consisting of several individuals, led by a dominant male. By forming these large groups, zebras can protect themselves from predators. The collective vigilance and cooperation of the herd help in spotting potential threats, such as lions or hyenas, and the sheer number of zebras can often deter predators from attacking.
Zebras are excellent long-distance runners and can reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour (64 kilometers per hour). This ability helps them evade predators and traverse vast distances in search of resources.
