Did you know?

The Tufted Titmouse gets its name from the prominent crest of feathers on its head, which resembles a tuft. When the bird is alarmed or excited, the crest is often raised, making it easily recognizable and adding to its charming appearance.

Tufted Titmice are known for their interesting behavior of hoarding food. During the fall and winter, they collect and hide seeds in various locations such as tree bark crevices, leaf litter, and even in the ground.

These small songbirds are quite vocal and have a variety of songs and calls in their repertoire. Tufted Titmice are also social birds and are commonly seen in mixed flocks along with other small bird species, such as chickadees and nuthatches, while foraging for food.
